There really is no shortage of things to do in Stellenbosch, especially for anyone who enjoys experiencing the raw yet beautifully refined culture of Cape Town and South Africa.
Stellenbosch is a hub of art, culture, music and unshakeable self-expression and that’s why I love it here.
So, when you are looking for reasons to visit Stellenbosch, you don’t need to look very far; whether you are a tourist, someone who has just moved to the Mother City or a life-long local.

What to do in Stellenbosch if You’re Looking for Something Fun and Unique
Wine Tasting in Stellenbosch

From the modern day take which offers wine and pizza pairing, to the classic wine and chocolate pairing and tours of some of the oldest, most historical cellars in the Western Cape – wine tasting in Stellenbosch is without a doubt one of the most popular pass-times for anyone who visits.
With 148 farms to choose from, you really are spoiled for choice, and if you have an appreciation for wine, it’s likely that you will want to visit more than one a day.
This is where the quirky Tuk Tuk comes in. Plan your route between your favourite wine farms and let the Tuk Tuk team of chauffeurs take you safely to your destination.
I think this puts a whole new exciting twist on wine tasting, don’t you?
Strawberry Picking in Stellenbosch

This is one of my favourite things to do in Stellenbosch. It’s something for all ages, and I find that the younger family members enjoy it the most.
Every year between October and December, there are several strawberry farms in and around Stellenbosch that allow you to take a leisurely stroll through the orchards while picking only the biggest, juiciest strawberries to take home with you.
Many offer a cantene or coffee shop where you can stop for a snack or a fresh brew of morning (or afternoon) coffee.
Live Music in Stellenbosch
Open during summer season, the gorgeous Oude Libertas Amphitheatre is easily one of the most beautiful open-air theatres in South Africa.
Surrounded by vineyards and towering oak trees, this is a beautiful venue which hosts theatre productions and local musicians alike.
Small, intimate and family friendly, this is truly one of Stellenbosch’s most nostalgic experiences not to be missed.
Museums in Stellenbosch
For the history lovers, I highly recommend a stroll down Dorp Street. Drenched in heritage and lined with oak trees older than our grandparents, this street transports you back to the Cape Dutch era.
Marvel at the Dutch inspired architecture, pop into one of the museums and stop for a coffee break along the way.
I also suggest making a stop at the old Lutheran Church which overlooks the street. Inside is a lovely art gallery worth visiting.
Art Galleries in Stellenbosch

Although visitors to Stellenbosch are spoiled for choice when it comes to art galleries, I would love to invite anyone who enjoys fine art and vibrant colours to visit my private art gallery.

The Teresa Decinti Art Gallery displays many of my pieces which are inspired by the lush mountains and exquisite landscapes of South Africa.

Often, with a special focus on the rich heritage of our country, I try to bring attention to the abundant beauty with which we are surrounded, both natural and man-made.

Using oil on canvas, oils with palette knife and watercolours, the final product will vary depending on the subject matter and of course, the inspiration.

Each piece is unique and can tell an intimate story of a very special moment in time. I aim to use my art to evoke feelings that cannot be expressed with language.
I display my art on the walls of my gallery, and with each one, a piece of my heart. So, with love and an undying passion for art and sharing, I invite you to visit my gallery at any time.
